The project
Built for the phone system of an office in Ticino.
Many offices run a VoIP phone system, often FreePBX or Asterisk, with desk phones on every desk. When you leave, your extension stays behind. Vocevia puts it on the iPhone with the features people are used to: colleague status, hold, transfer and voicemail.
We built it for the phone system of an office we work with and published it for free for anyone using a SIP PBX. Calls come in even when the app is closed, on the iOS call screen. The screenshots show the Italian version.
On a call
Transfer a call in two taps.
During a call you have mute, keypad, speaker and hold. Transfers can be direct or announced: you talk to your colleague first, then hand the caller over. Voice is high definition (G.722 and Opus).

Colleagues, contacts and setup in one place.
Vocevia works like an office phone, with a few extras.
Colleague status
Like the busy lamp keys on desk phones: see who is free, who is on a call and whose phone is ringing. Tap Answer to pick up a colleague’s call.
Shared address book
A contact added by one colleague is visible to everyone straight away.
Ready with a QR code
The office sends an invitation: extension, colleagues and address book arrive on their own, then the app checks the setup.
Records only when needed
Recording starts on request, everyone hears the announcement and the file is deleted after seven days.
Every day
No missed calls.
Recents shows missed calls, voicemail and who transferred a call to you. The app follows the iOS dark mode.
